peer-review-policy
The publication of articles in the Journal of Advanced Islamic and Legal Research is based solely on the scientific validity and coherence of the work, as determined by our editors and/or peer reviewers. They will also evaluate the clarity of the writing and the contribution of the work to the field. The Journal of Advanced Islamic and Legal Research acknowledges and values the efforts and recommendations provided by its reviewers.
Initial Evaluation of Manuscripts
The Editor will conduct an initial evaluation of all submitted manuscripts within a maximum of three weeks. While rare, an exceptional manuscript may be accepted at this stage. Manuscripts rejected at this stage typically lack originality, contain significant scientific flaws, or fall outside the scope and aims of the Journal of Advanced Islamic and Legal Research. Manuscripts meeting the minimum criteria are forwarded to expert reviewers for further evaluation, a process that usually takes up to eight weeks.
Type of Peer Review
Submitted manuscripts are generally reviewed by two to three experts who assess whether the manuscript is scientifically sound, original, and coherent. Reviewers will also evaluate if the manuscript duplicates existing work and if it is clear enough for publication. The journal follows a blind peer review process. If necessary, additional rounds of review may be conducted if the initial review is insufficient.
Review Reports
Reviewers are asked to assess whether the manuscript:
- Clearly states its objectives and addresses the research gap, demonstrating originality.
- Is methodologically sound.
- Adheres to appropriate ethical guidelines.
- Presents results/findings clearly, with conclusions supported by the evidence.
- Accurately references previous relevant work.
Reviewers are not expected to correct or copyedit manuscripts, as language correction is not part of the peer-review process.
Decision
Reviewers provide recommendations to the editor, who is ultimately responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. Editors make decisions based on these reports and, if necessary, consult members of the Editorial Board. The editor's decision is final.
