Abstract

This study aims to conduct a preliminary study of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) application among Arabic language students. The primary focus of this study is to  identify the needs of Generative Artificial Intelligence among Arabic language students besides to highlight the ethical perspectives admist using the GenAI. This study uses descriptive analtyical method by describing GenAI itself with details. The expected findings indicate that the majority of students employ Generative AI for a variety of purposes, including academic assignment preparation, reinforement of self-guided learning, enhancement of language skills and exploration of creative ideas. Thus, the results also reveal a significant need for more comprehensive awareness and guidance on ethical usage and an informed understanding of the tehcnology’s limitations to ensure optimal use without compromising academic integrity. It is anticipated that this study will contribute meaningfully to strengthening the ethical, innovative, and effective integration of GenAI technology into the education system in Malaysia.
